Breakfast Topic: What are the worst professions to level?

Breakfast Topic What are the worst Professions to level
I was hanging out on Twitter the other day, as I often do, and noticed one of my Twitter buddies, @hestiahdruid, talking about jewelcrafting. It seemed she’d collided with one of jewelcrafting’s tiresome bumps. What’s a bump? Well, it’s a point in the leveling of the profession where mats go from obtainable to unobtanable, from reasonably priced to prohibitively priced.

Jewelcrafting seemed, of the professions I’ve leveled, to have more of these bumps than the others. They seemed to crop up around what were the maximum jewelcrafting levels in older expansions at the level you’d have been in jewelcrafting when you were maxed out in vanilla, The Burning Crusade, and Wrath of the Lich King.

I remember my own jewelcrafting leveling grind, and I couldn’t have been happier when my guildmate pointed out that as an alchemist, I could transmute the raw gems I needed to get over the hump into Cataclysm greens. I don’t recall similar problems happening when I leveled my other professions, but to be fair I only have enchanting, engineering, herbalism, tailoring, and alchemy, so maybe that’s the issue. Maybe there’s one out there that’s worse, but I just haven’t leveled it yet.

What do you think? What are the worst and the best professions to level? Where are the bumps? And, importantly, do you have any tips for my Twitter buddy on getting past them, in jewelcrafting or any profession?
